Fibrosis is the accumulation of extracellular matrix components at the sites of chronic inflammation that leads to progressive tissue damage, and represents a significant unmet medical need.Gene expression analyses of fibrotic tissues in both animal models and human patients suggest that cadherin-11 is involved in the epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT) at injury sites and could be used as a marker to assess the PK/PD relationship and efficacy of antifibrosis drugs used for the treatment of fibrotic diseases of the heart, lung, liver, and kidney.
