Receptor-mediated cell adhesion plays a pivotal role in cell differentiation,migration,and growth.Most existing studies on probing mechanical principles of cell adhesion usually focus on the regulation of cell and extracellular matrix elasticity.However,from the physics point ofview,cells are typically viscoelastic materials,and the deformation of cells depends on loading history.Therefore,by considering a cluster of ligand-receptor bonds between two dissimilar viscoelastic media subjected to an applied tensile load,we propose a viscoelastic-stochastic model to investigate the basic mechanical principles involving in such adhesion system.
