Purpose To determine whether the limbus in patients with developmental dysplasia of the hip(DDH)impedes the development of the articular cartilage of acetabulum and femoral head by MRI.Materials and Methods From 2015.9 to 2016.3,patients with DDH but without subluxation and dislocation of involved hip and patients with hip pain but without abnormalities on MR were recruited in this study. The hip joints MRI examinations were performed on a 3T MRI system with a HD cardiac coil.Base on the MR images, all the patients were subdivided into three groups: the patients with DDH and limbus(Group 1),the patients with DDH but no limbus(Group 2),and the controls(Group3).Coronal T2 mapping was used to calculate the T2 values of the cartilage of acetabulum and femoral head.Coronal T2 CUBE was reconstructed and the diameters of limbus were measured. The statistics significant differences of T2 values of cartilage of acetabulum and femoral head underlying the limbus among the three groups were analyzed by ANOVA and LSD.The correlation of the limbus volume and the T2 values in patients in group 1 were analyzed by lineal regression analysis.
