Colletotrichum includes a number of pathogens of major importance, causing diseases of a wide variety of hosts.Rapid and reliable identification of pathogenic Colletotrichum species is vitally important, which will ensure the correct disease management and control procedure.The taxonomy of Colletotrichum has undergone several step changes over the years in the sequence of host-based diagnosis, morphology-based diagnosis, ITS-based analysis, and multi-locus phylogeny-based diagnosis.
