Protection by microbicides,including the duration of protection,is likely to be enhanced when microbicides are used with a cervical barrier,since the cervix is the most susceptible site for many infections.A cervical barrier will also provide protection against pregnancy.Hence cervical barriers may increase use of microbicides since most women most of the time want protection against both pregnancy and disease.
