Most of the commonly used kinetics rate theories deal with elementary single-step events and the underlying rate constants.These are the kind coarse-graining treatments,applicable to the events that occur in the time and length scales longer than quantum coherences.On the other hand,biophysical chemistry is concerned with cofactors-proteins complexes that are nano-structured and also dynamically fluctuated.
