A New Finding at the Chronic Phase of Severe Experimental Autoimmune Neuritis Rats

　　During doing a study about schwann cells transplantation to experimental autoimmune neuritis rats (EAN), we found: 400 μg of P2 peptide 57-81 may induce an severe and chronic EAN, and it was unexpected that sciatic nerve sections from the EAN rats still showed severe inflammatory cells infiltration at the chronic phase (on day 45 post immunization), which different from the previous researches.Our finding indicated this EAN model may imitate those severe and slowly recovered Guillain-Barre syndrome (GBS) patients.Moreover, continued inflammatory response in the sciatic nerves of these EAN rats suggested the of immunoregulatory therapy, such as intravenous immunoglobulin (IVIG), whether at the acute or at the chronic stage.Therefore, the course of immunoregulatory therapy may need to be prolonged in the severe and slowly recovered EAN rats or GBS patients in order to get the better prognosis.
