Heterophasic copolymerization of propylene targeting advanced polypropylene (PP) resins with alloy structures has been reinvented, thanks to the enormous achievements in homogeneous olefin polymerization catalysis that result in a vast capability to control over both the polymerization behavior and polymer microstructure of olefinic (co)-polymers, the well-understood formation as well as development mechanism of the heterophasic structures relating to final material properties, and the ever-prospecting material science research in nanometer scale that has been providing new, potential supporting materials for olefin polymerization catalysts, which renders an invaluable opportunity to apply the powerful nanochemistry to unravel some of the long-lasting mysteries in the effort of further promoting material performance of PP alloys.
