Investigations on the direct initiation of detonation in explosive mixtures

　　In this study, an ignition system and method of measuring the spark discharge energy were developed to investigate the blast wave produced by high-voltage spark discharge.The 1/4 spark discharge energy was verified to be the effective energy for direct initiation of spherical gaseous detonation.The behavior and characterization of critical energy for direct detonation initiation were investigated.The relationship between critical energy/explosion length and cell size or induction zone length were obtained eventually for those mixtures with and without argon dilution.The measurement of the detonation dynamic parameters (i.e., critical initiation energy, critical tube diameter and cell size) were carried out in comprehensive mixtures.The parameters were obtained for the same mixture under the same initial condition.A detailed discussion was carried out on the relationship between each detonation dynamic parameter.
