In this study, the multifunctional nanocomposites (MFNCs) as drug carriers are prepared by cross-linking reaction of cationic chitosan (CS) and anionic tripolyphosphate (TPP) to encapsulate magnetic nanoparticles (Fe3O4 NPs) and cancer therapeutic agents such as berberine (BB).These MFNCs were characterized by inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry (ICP-MS), ultra violet-visible-near infrared spectrophotometer (UV-VIS-NIR spectrophotometer), fourier transform infrared spectrophotometer (FT-IR), zetasizer, transmission electron microscope (TEM) and Vibrating Sample Magnetometer (VSM).Cell cellular uptake and distribution of MFNCs was examined in human colon adenocarcinoma cell lines (Colo 205).We present here the synthesis, characterization, and functionality of these multifunctional nanocomposites.
