Progranulin (PGRN) functions as an important regulator of cell growth, migration, and transformation. We determine the molecular mechanisms by which H.pylori upregulates PGRN and its function in controlling cell proliferation and migration. The results demonstrated that PGRN protein levels were increased in patients. The activation of p38 and MEK1/2 pathway by H.pylori mediated PGRN upregulation, suggesting that the upregulation of PGRN in H.pylori-infected gastric epithelial cells may contribute to the carcinogenic process.
