Cell-penetrating peptides (CPPs) are short, often hydrophilic peptides that can deliver biologically active molecules into ceils and that are likely to play a key role in the development of future biotherapeutics.However, the application of the CPPs is limited because the transduction efficiency is often insufficient and the cellular localization is unpredictable.We investigated the effects of a penetration enhancer, 1,2-Benzisothiazolin-3-One (BIT), on the uptake of a synthetic fluorescent TAT and a TAT-conjugated Green fluorescent protein or the pro-apoptotic peptide KLA, and evaluated its toxicity in various cell lines.
