Senile dementia is considered one of the most bewildering age-related diseases that assumes paramount in relation to both Western and Chinese societies.However, long before the biomedical explanation of the disease, symptoms of what we consider dementia today had been documented in ancient Chinese texts from 227 BC.With the rapid progress in western biomedicine and neurology in the nineteenth century, a growing population in the west has begun to understand dementia as a progressive neurological disease.
