Microarray profiling of invasive breast carcinomas has identified subtypes including luminal A, luminal B, HER2-overexpressing and basal-like.Basal-like invasive cancer is associated with an aggressive clinical history, disease reccurrence, distant metastasis and shorter survival.However, the prognosis of basal-like ductal carcinoma in situ (DCIS) is still unknown.Our aim was to investigate the prognosis of basal-like DCIS compared to other subtypes in a large population-based cohort.A total of 458 primary DCIS diagnosed between 1986 and 2004 were recruited for this study.TMA blocks were constructed with two cores (1.0 mm) from each primary DCIS.The genetic subtypes were immunohistochemically evaluated by estrogen receptor (ER), human epidermal growth factor receptor 2 (HER2),cytokeratin 5/6 (CK5/6) and epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR).As proposed by Livasy et al., (Hum Pathol.
