The Preparation of Poly (Amide-6-β-ethylene Oxide) Composite Membranes for Sour Gas Capturing

  In this paper,block copolymer poly (amide-6-b-ethylene oxide) (PEBA 1657) is used to prepare composite membranes for sour gas capturing.Due to the special affinity of PEO segment,PEBA 1657 shows remarkable high permeability and selectivity for CO2/N2 [1-3],SO2/N2,and H2S/N2.The ultra thin multilayer PEI(polyetherimide)/PDMS(polydimethylsilicone)/PEBA/PDMS composite membrane was successfully prepared with dip-coating method.PEBA 1657 was coated first on PEI/PDMS composite membrane to form a selective layer.In order to protect the membrane and plug the small pores in selective layer,PDMS was coated again on PEI/PDMS/PEBA surface to form a sealing layer.The multilayer PEI/PDMS/PEBA/PDMS composite membrane displayed extremely high gas permeance and a relative large selectivity.The permeance for CO2,H2S,and SO2 can be up to 162,182,and 3490 GPU,respectively; and the selectivity of CO2/N2,H2S/N2,and SO2/N2 achieved 66,88,and 1631,respectively.In order to describe the transport process of multilayer PEI/PDMS/PEBA/PDMS composite membrane,a resistance-in-series model [4,5] was established.
