The purpose of this paper focuses on the pipe local deformation identification with ultrasonic guided wave.To illustrate the feasibility of the method,some numerical studies were carried out.First,the intact and concave-like defects of the pipe were constructed.The propagations of guided wave in the pipes were calculated by FEM.The defect echo and mode conversion could be clearly observed in the time history of guided wave signal.A defined reflection coefficient was used to evaluate the location and concave severity.In addition,the reflection coefficients distribution in circumferential directions was also discussed which could be used to find the circumferential location of the deformation.
