Multicore computing is about to change the elements of computing in drastic and exciting ways.An important beneficiary should be computer simulation for chemical engineering science and practice, having become an equal partner with experiment and theory in the past 50 years.For physical, chemical, biological, and even social systems, simulation can be used to interpret data, investigate implications of theory, and design new technological solutions from nanoscale objects to global-scale systems.This presentation will explore the international range of valuable simulations.It will also address paths for chemical engineers to benefit from having millions of hyperparallel processors coupled to our cyberinfrastructure.
