Due to the ability in surface hardening to improve tribological properties,fatigue endurance,and corrosion resistance of iron and steel work pieces,as well as the potential as magnetic recording heads,binary iron nitride materials have been intensely investigated for over 50 years.Recently,the development of high-pressure technology enables to study structural phase transition under the conservation of nitrogen content for this system [1].Moreover,it allows exploring new metastable nitride materials since the stability of nitrides is considerably increased by application of high pressures [2].
