Fructus forsythiae is the fruit of forsythi(a) suspense val which has been used widely in traditional Chinese medicines with highly variable therapeutic effects.To illustrate its action mechanism,control its quantity and promote the development,it(i)-s important to find out the major effective constituent for Forsythia Fruit.Usually,philyrin was used as the maker compound by China pharmacopoeia,but now there are debates arising against it.Through the in situ and in vivo experiment in rat 1,the absorption of phillyrin and forsythiaside were investigated.The results showed that phillyrin was barely absorbed when orally administrated.But forsythiaside showed an average 7% absorption per hour (P%).
