Patients with minor lower urinary tract symptoms, elevated an/or rising PSA and benign prostatic enlargement on digital rectal examination and transrectal ultrasound undergo routinely extended multisite prostate biopsies.If no malignancy is encountered, those patients are closely monitored and re-evaluated after a certain time.When PSA remains elevated, new biopsies can be proposed.If biopsies in those patients are persistently negative for malignancy, a diagnostic dilemma occurs.The presentation discusses the relevance of a diagnostic TURP in a selected group of patients.
