It is well known that an essential component of the search for new leads in the designing program is the synthesis of molecules, which are novel yet resemblance to natural products.Indolo[2,3-b]quinoline ring system of neocryptolepine alkaloid have been deeply studied as an effective DNA intercalating agent and exhibited exceptionally pharmacological properties, such as strong antiplasmodial, antimicrobial and cytotoxic activities in vitro and significant antitumor properties in vivo.Therefore, in recent years enormous synthetic efforts have been devoted surrounding the unique structural array of indolo[2,3-b]quinoline skeleton of neocryptolepine alkaloid to design and synthesize new families of such poly-fused heterocyclic systems for current medicinal chemistry needs.
