The fruit flesh of pumpkin is rich in carotenoids, tocopherols,polysaccharides, inositols and minerals.Nutrients present in pumpkin fruit are benefit for human health and offer the multifunctions for pumpkin.Evaluation of quality traits in the Cucurbita germplasms could help the selection of parental combinations to create high quality progenies.This study aims to evaluate fruit quality traits including Brix, carotenoid, carbohydrate compounds of full ripening fruits by HPLC and GC-MS in each ten germplasms from two pumpkin species, Cucurbita moschata and Cucurbita maxima;furthermore, the molecular regulating variation in two species of key chemical biosynthesis will be studied by transcriptome.
