The effect of the elasticity of the dispersed phase on the dynamics of droplet formation was studied in a cross-flowing microfluidic T-junction by a high-speed camera.The microfluidic device with a square section of 200 μm×200 μm was made of polymethyl methacrylate(PMMA).Mineral oil with 4 wt%Span 20 was used as the continuous phase.Dissolved polyethylene oxide(PEO)in the mixture of deionized water and glycerol,the resulting dilute solution was used as the dispersed phase fluid,which is elastic and has a constant viscosity independent of the shear rates.
