Sleep Apnoea and other sleep-related breathing disorders are highly prevalent and obstructive sleep apnoea is one of the most prevalent chronic respiratory disorders.Since the diagnosis of obstructive sleep apnoea syndrome (OSAS) is based on the combination of clinical features and diagnostic sleep studies, a major challenge exists in coping with the very large numbers of patients awaiting diagnosis. Thus, a particular area of interest in respiratory sleep medicine is the topic of ambulatory/simplified approaches to overnight sleep studies, which was the subject of a recent inter-society report of ERS,ATS and AASM.
