两栖类由于其独特的生理特性，对气候环境变化，尤其是温度和水分的变化十分敏感。因此在环境变化时，其生存状况也容易受到影响。高原林蛙为分布在青藏高原东缘及周边地区，这一区域由于人类活动等原因，环境不断恶化，生物多样性保护面临巨大挑战。

林蛙油是林蛙雌蛙的输卵管，其主要有效成分为蛙醇。近些年来，人们对于食品安全的重视程度越来越高，对于林蛙油内是否含有对人身体有害的物质也越来越重视。其中重金属进入人体要经过较长时间的积累才会显示出毒性，其往往不易被早期察觉，从而更加重了其危害性。
