自一九四六年Von Euler与Liljestrand,提出吸入低氧混合气可使猫肺动脉压升高以来,人们从不同角度对低氧性肺动脉升压反应的机制进行了探讨,但均未获得一致的结果。许多学者如Silove、Howard、Tucker、周承文等分别报道过:去甲肾上腺素、组织胺、乙酰胆碱等活性物质对肺血管的作用都与作用前的肺血管张力水平有关。低氧性肺动脉加压反应会不会也受低氧前肺血管张力的制约呢?Fishman提出,
Since Von Euler and Liljestrand in 1946 proposed that inhalation of hypoxia mixed gas can elevate cat pulmonary arterial pressure, the mechanism of hypoxic pulmonary hypertension has been discussed from different perspectives, but none have been consistent result. Many scholars such as Silove, Howard, Tucker, Zhou Chengwen, etc. have reported separately: norepinephrine, histamine, acetylcholine and other active substances on the role of pulmonary blood vessels and pulmonary vascular tone before the level of action. Hypoxic pulmonary artery pressure response will also be affected by hypoxic pulmonary vascular tension constraints? Fishman proposed,
