After extensive research efforts worldwide in the last decades, it is no doubt now that hydrogen sulfide (H2S) has important physiological roles in many organs/tissues and is also involved in the pathogenesis of some important diseases. However, the mechanisms underlying the H2S effects are largely unknown. One of the most challenging questions in H2S would be identification of the "receptors" for H2S.Recent studies indicate that H2S may react with its "receptors" with some mechanisms beyond the typical ligand-receptor mechanisms.
