The roseophilin, a unique antibiotic, has a characteristic skeleton featuring a strained macrocyclic entity with an extended heterocyclic ring system.We report a 19-step synthesis of the key intermediate A from (+)-limonene, which could be converted to roseophilin in a few steps.
