A PA6/sulphur-containing flame retardant(AS,10 wt%)master batch was prepared,as well as PA6 composites with different AS contents.Limiting oxygen index(LOI),mechanical test demonstrated that the LOI of PA6 increased from 24.4%to 33%,the tensile strength and the elongation at break decreased with the increase of AS content.Moreover,thermal gravimetric analysis(TGA)pointed that the effect of AS increased the char residue.Differential scanning calorimetry(DSC)showed that AS can promote the crystallization of PA6 and increased the melting endotherm.The flame retardant PA6 fibers were prepared by melt spinning of dried PA6 composites chips and master batches.The mechanical properties of PA6/AS fibers containing different AS content were tested by the multifilament yarn strength tester.The results showed that AS makes the fiber strength and elongation at break of composite fiber decrease while the master batch technology can improve the performance and appearance of the fiber effectively.
