Thousands of islands in The Philippines,where live more than 30% of total population,have no power conection with national grid.In the past decades the only electrical power resource in those islands is diesel generator--pricey and dirty.Fortunately,the government has started pushing the cheaper and cleaner renewable energy integrated microgrid solution nationwide.In 2015 DNV GL is engaged by a local developer company to provide a feasibility and conceptual design of solar integrated microgrid in one island in The Philippines.This paper will elaborate this project from financial and technical point of view,to showcase how DNV GL helps the customer to reduce the diesel generation in the island by 50% with solar integrated solution which has high energy efficiency and financial return rate.
