The interferon (IFN) system constitutes the first line of host-defense against infections and other danger signals.As shown to be susceptible to several human viruses,tree shrews (Tupaia belangeri) are potentially useful models for analyzing viral infection but the family members and their receptors of tree shrew IFNs have not been systemically studied previously.
