Composite natural rubber foams prepared from vulcanization the natural rubber in sulfur curing system with sodium bicarbonate (NaHCO3) as foaming agent added 0, 20, 30, 40, and 50 phr of kaolinite (Al2Si2O5(OH)4), acted as the dispersed phase or filler. The obtained composite natural rubber foams are light weight, good thermal, mechanical, and electrical properties suitable for thermal insulation, energy absorption, and structural uses.Kaolinite filler particles added in the natural rubber composite foams have high melting temperature, chemical stability, and ionic charge polarization. The morphology of natural rubber composite foams were decomposed and generated gas at vulcanization temperature 150℃ to obtain open and closed cell structures.Furthermore, the kaolinite can reinforce the mechanical properties and increase the thermal resistance of the composite natural rubber foams because of the ionic charges A13+, Si4+, and O2-to induce good interatomic bonding within the natural rubber foams matrix. The scanning electron micrographs (SEM), thermal conductivity (K) and flame retardant, physical properties (bulk density, relative foam density, and crosslink density), and electrical properties used to investigate the microstructure, thermal and electrical properties, and characteristics of the obtained composite natural rubber foams are reported here.
