Deviation is an important concept in stylistics,meaning the violation of norms with an intention of making the stylistic effects impressive.Besides Shklovskij and Mukarovsky,who made a theoretical generalization of deviational phenomena,Leech is the one who studies deviation systematically and categorizes it into groups.To apply the theory of deviation to College English teaching is an effective way to cultivate students interest in and aesthetic ability of English texts.
