Marcus theory was verified to violate the law of conservation of energy in our previous paper,[1] but some readers didnt accept this conclusion.[2] The main reason is that they thought the source of △G0 in Marcus theory for the outer sphere electron transfer reaction is derived from the solute change rather than the solvent change.It is necessary to examine the source of △G0 in Marcus theory for the outer sphere electron transfer reactions.
