Purpose To evaluate meniscus quality after partial meniscectomy or meniscus repair in the anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) reconstructed knees.Methods A prospective database of surgical ACL reconstructions from September 2007 to September 2011 was reviewed.Isolated ACL ruptures with medial meniscal tears were identified and treated with partial meniscectomy or meniscal repair during arthroscopic operations.Clinical examination was performed on the same day as the MRI examination.MRI images were used to determine the modified Whole-Organ Magnetic Resonance Imaging Score (WORMS) of the menisci and the meniscal midbody extrusion.Multi-echo sagittal images were segmented using Siemens software packages to determine the T2 relaxation time value of each meniscus plate.Differences in each measurement were compared among groups.
