Background Heat shock factor 4,which is a regulator of heat shock response by upregulating the expression of heat shock proteins,plays a critical role in the regulation of postnatal lens development.Knockout Hsf4 leads to abnormal epithelial cell proliferation and fiber differentiation(e.g.accumulation of protein aggregates and delayed nuclear degradation in fiber cells),resulting in postnatal cataracts.However,Its regulatory mechanism is still not clear.
