In order to improve cycling performance of lithium-rich cathode materials Li[Li0.2Mn0.54Ni0.13Co0.13]O2, cathode materials Li[Li0.2Mn0.54Ni0.13Co0.13]O2 with surface coating various V2O5 contents have been investigated by combustion method.The structure and morphological characterizations was examined by means of scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and X-ray diffraction (XRD).The electrochemical performance was tested by gavanostratic charge-discharge cycling.The results indicated that all the cathode materials only have a two-dimensional layed α-NaFeO2 structure by V2O5 surface coating.When charged and discharged at 0.1 C in the voltage range of 2.0 ~ 4.8 V, cathode materials Li[Li0.2Mn0.54 Ni0.13Co0.13]O2 being coated with 12 wt.% V2O5 could deliver an initial capacity of 301.7 rnAh/g, the capacity retention remain 78.6 % of the initial capacity after 50 cycles and the coulombie efficiency was improved from 69.7 % to 81.6 % at first cycle.
