In treating copper containing gold ores using cyanidation, copper cyanide can be recovered following the recovery of gold cyanide. This paper compares the use of activated carbon and ion-exchange resins for recovering the copper cyanide. When using activated carbon, the overall cyanide-to-copper ratio has to be reduced to less than 3 to achieve an effective adsorption. This can be achieved by adding metallic copper into the leach solution.
