In recent years, more drug development programs involve combination of two or three drugs.This strategy combines two or three drugs with different pharmacological actions in a single pill, or in separate dosage forms, for co-administration and often provides better efficacy than a single drug therapy.Well known examples of combination drug therapy include approved drugs for treatment of hypertension and hepatitis C.The toxicology program and strategy to support combination drugs has become a focus of attention and interest for drug development.Assessment of potential toxicity or synergistic effects as a result of combination of two or three drugs is a key factor for success of the combination.
