Binary IrV alloy as a novel substitute for platinum has been viewed as the cathode catalyst in hydrogen–air fuel cells, and novel non-Pt catalyst supported on microstructure controllable carbon nanofibers (CNFs) was prepared and the oxygen reduction reaction (ORR) properties of these catalysts were studied by cyclic voltammetry and Rotating ring-disk electrode (RRDE).The physico-chemical properties of the novel non-Pt catalysts are characterized by high resolution transmission electron microscope (HRTEM),N2 adsorption-desorption,Thermogravimetry (TG) and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS).The XPS results show that the microstructure also can effect the interaction of metal nanoparticles with CNFs.
