The electronic dephasing of benzene on the second excited state has been observed by femtosecond time-resolved photoelectron imaging technique coupled with time-resolved mass spectroscopy. In our experiment,a pump pulse at 400 nm is used to excite the parent molecule to the S2 state, and a probe pulse at 800 nm is used to probe relaxed dynamics of benzene from the S2 state.
