This article presents a research approach and implementation criterion on the construction of regional integrative radiotherapy information system(RTIS)based on the technical framework and profiles of Integrating the Healthcare Enterprise for Radiation Oncology(IHE-RO)for the department of radiation oncology of the regional hospitals.This special RTIS for the department of radiation oncology keeps good interoperability between image diagnosis devices and radiotherapy devices,which involves the following subsystems and functions: the hierarchical management on personnel of the department of radiation oncology,case registration,radiotherapy image management(involving CT,MRI and PET images and contours,etc.)based on DICOM RT,TPS(radiation treatment planning system design and output,TDS(treatment delivery and implementation system),financial management,query service,record and statistics,evaluation and analysis,etc.In the process of the construction,real status of China's regional hospital including the devices and personnel for radiotherapy should be well considered,and two standards on IEC62083 and IEC60601-1-4 should be satisfied in China.With the further development of IHE-RO and the deep application of this special information management system for radiation oncology in China,this innovative research and practice in China would be better improved.
