We present a route to fabricate photonic crystals decorated optical fiber sensors.Fix an optical fiber inside an 8mm long quartz capillary sleeve,and ensure one of the capillary’s end faces and one end face of the fiber in a same plane which is vertical to the fiber axis.Self-assembly three dimensional photonic crystals on the fiber-capillary co-end face to form a refractive index detector.The other end of the fiber functions as input and output port.Select the band gap of photonic crystals in communication bands to reduce transmission loss and realize all optical sensing over long distance.
