Phewa Lake in Pokhara Valley is a multipurpose lake having ecological,aesthetic and cultural significances.However,the lake is experiencing water quality deterioration problem due to increased population with changing life-style,rapid urbanization rate,and intensive agriculture practices in the catchment.Though,the lake is considered to be one of the best studied lakes in Pokhara Valley as well as in Nepal,the earlier studies have mostly covered limnological investigations,and phyto-and zoo-plankton studies,which in general explain in-lake phenomena.
