With the purpose of enhancing security of image encryption, a six-dimensional hyperchaotic system is given, based on which a scheme for image encryption is proposed. The Lyapunov exponents of the proposed hyperchaotic system are computed and the hyperchaotic characteristic of the system is analyzed. Two steps, including both pixel position and value scrambling, are performed to encrypt image. Experimental results demonstrate the scheme has advantages in providing strong security and having capability of antiattack and anti-loss of information.
