Study on recovery of Ga and Ge from zinc leaching residues

　　This paper summarized the status of recovery of Ga and Ge from zinc process in China.The extraction rates of Ga and Ge are very low.The main reason is that it is difficult to separate from iron and zinc.A new process was developed by BGRIMM and Nonfemet by hydrometallurgical process from zinc residue.In zinc residue 75% of Ga and Ge exist with ZnO.Fe2O3 and the rest exist with SiO2.ZnO.Fe2O3 is very difficult to solve in low sulphuric acid concentrate.If willing to obtain high recovery of Ga and Ge the ZnO.Fe2O3 should be reduced and Zn, Fe, Ga and Ge will come into solution.
