To study a complicated system like NMC622, we need PDF for local probe。Thanks to neutron’s high sensitivity to oxygen, we were able to track theevolution of oxygen-oxygen distance during deep delithiation (0.83 Liextracted). The shortest distance observed was 2.54 , far from the distancein peroxo-like species.NMC622 has great structural stability, highly reversible structural change even for high voltage; little if any oxygen release. Stacking faults occur at highvoltage charging; Strain, or inhomogeneity builds up upon cycling.
