Background, Motivation and Objective Nonlinear effects can be observed in a sound field of very high energy density; one of these effects is a resulting time average of the particle velocity of the fluid being different from zero. The time average of the particle velocity is called the acoustic streaming. Moreover, associated with the acoustic streaming is a net flow of mass of the fluid. In this paper, the acoustic streaming produced by a propagating sound wave in air under free field conditions is studied experimentally: the strong jet-like wind generated by a beam of sound radiated by a powerful ultrasonic source.
