We investigated the dependence of the energy level shift of ultracold ground state cesium atoms on trapping beam intensity, detuning and magnetic gradient in a magneto-optical trap. The energy level shift, containing AC Stark shift and Zeeman shift induced by the trapping beam and magnetic field respectively, was measured using a Raman pump-probe spectroscopy, while the trapping beam itself served as pump beam. The experimental results agreed with the theoretical values predicted by a simple model which was developed from a multi-level cesium atom interacting with pump and probe beams.
