  Military equipments often work in harsh environmental conditions and the stringent requirements of readiness make maintenance one of the critical elements that affect equipments service life.Based on the investigation of equipments in service currently,it was pointed out that the majority equipment damages could be prevented or repaired through wide application of surface engineering technologies.The development of surface engineering has made itself an essential part of maintenance technologies and made great contribution in prolonging equipments service life.The nanoparticles electro-brush plating technology,high speed arc spraying technology,nano solid lubrication technology,nano friction reducing and dynamic repairing technology,the advanced and practical surface engineering techniques,new materials,new facilities and maintenance techniques etc.will play an important role in acceleration of equipments maintenance modernization.
